8 Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy; One boat seized

Eight Indian fishermen have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly violating its territorial waters. On Tuesday, officials provided this information. He claimed that the fishermen are Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, locals. The Sri Lankan Navy allegedly detained the fishermen late on Monday night for allegedly fishing in its territorial waters between Mullaithivu and Nedunthivu, according to the Fisheries Department. An Indian boat has also been taken by them.

On Monday morning, the fishermen departed from the district’s port of Jegadapattinam aboard a mechanized vessel. The fishermen were reportedly detained by the Sri Lankan Navy on Tuesday morning around 2:00 am while they were fishing close to Neduntheevu, according to sources in the Coastal Security Group.

The fishermen and their boats were transported to Sri Lanka’s Kankesanthurai naval base. Boat owners P Tamilselvan (37), C Viji (28), A Dinesh (26), G Ranjith (27), S Pakkirisamy (45), S Kamal (25), and S Punudhu (41) and M. Karthik were among those detained, according to sources (27).
