India, UAE to Boost Maritime Cooperation with Focus on Green Shipping and Port Infrastructure

The UAE’s ambassador Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, and India’s Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, recently discussed expanding maritime cooperation between the two nations. Their talks focused on deepening strategic ties through port development, shipping, and logistics initiatives. Sonowal emphasized India’s commitment to modernizing its maritime sector under the Sagarmala project, and potential UAE investments in coastal shipping and port infrastructure were highlighted as key growth opportunities.

The UAE, home to Jebel Ali Port, expressed interest in collaborating on green shipping and advanced port technologies to improve operational efficiency. Both nations reiterated their focus on sustainability and innovation in the maritime industry, with the meeting signaling a strengthened alliance aimed at boosting trade connectivity and economic growth.
