Female Crew Missing After Falling Overboard from Carnival Dream

A female crew aboard the Carnival cruise ship CARNIVAL DREAM fell overboard in the early hours of August 9, 2024, while the ship was sailing from Cozumel, Mexico, to Galveston, Texas. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM, approximately 82 nautical miles off the coast of northeast Rio Lagartos, Mexico.
The Mexican and US coast guards were notified after the female crew member failed to report for work and could not be found on board. She has since been declared missing at sea.
The CARNIVAL DREAM, a Panama-flagged cruise ship built in 2009, continued its journey to Galveston as per the itinerary, despite the ongoing search.
In a separate incident on the same day, a young man went overboard from the EXPLORER OF THE SEAS in the Adriatic Sea during a cruise from Italy to Greece. It was found that he fell from 30-feet-long, suspected to have endured injuries during the fall. Search operations are still underway.
