Swire Shipping’s MV Suva Chief Embarks on Eco-Friendly Voyage with B24 Biofuel

MV Suva Chief, a containership on Swire Shipping’s Sun Chief Express Ocean service, was successfully bunkered with sustainable B24 biofuel—a blend of waste-origin biodiesel and conventional fuels—during a trial in Hong Kong. The initiative, conducted in partnership with marine fuel supplier Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical (CPN) and Hafnia Bunker Alliance, reflects Swire Shipping’s commitment to sustainable shipping solutions.

Harry Stones, President of Swire Shipping North America, announced that the trial is expected to reduce well-to-wake emissions by 15%, marking a significant step towards the company’s decarbonization targets. Swire Shipping aims for a 50% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030 and net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.
