According to the regional weather office, Mandous, a severe cyclonic storm, will travel along the coast between north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh sometime between December 9’s evening and morning.
Chennai and other areas of Tamil Nadu saw rain as a result of the Bay of Bengal system. Up to 5:30 am on Friday, Chennai received 52.5 mm of precipitation.
According to a tweet from the India Meteorological Department, Mandos was located more than 270 kilometres east of Karaikal. According to an IMD official, it is anticipated to cross the coast close to Mamallapuram. It was centred 270 kilometres off Chennai. In the ensuing hours, it will become a cyclonic storm, the IMD expert predicted.

Due to the IMD’s warning of heavy rain and gusts, educational institutions in a number of districts in Tamil Nadu remained closed. Additionally, people have been warned not to park their cars next to trees or go to beaches. A total of 121 shelters and 5,093 aid centres, including 169 in Chennai, have been opened throughout Tamil Nadu.
After the IMD issued a cyclone warning, the territorial authority in neighbouring Puducherry declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the Puducherry and Karaikal territories on Friday and Saturday.

Home and education minister for Puducherry A. In a statement, Namassivayam stated that the government had heeded the IMD’s warning that the storm in the Bay of Bengal will cause a major cyclone to strike the districts of Puducherry and Karaikal. He stated that starting on Friday, all schools and universities would be closed for two days.
All departments involved in relief efforts were prepared by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, and rescue squads were sent out to deal with any emergency.

At the port of Puducherry, a storm warning signal flag number five has been raised, and fishermen have been advised not to go out to sea.

N. Chief Minister Rangasamy had conversations with representatives from the Revenue Department and the Disaster Management Department.
