Man held for duping people on pretext of providing job by creating fake FB profile of Kolkata port trust

A guy was detained by the Kolkata Police for defrauding people under the guise of offering jobs by fabricating a false Facebook profile for the Kolkata Port Trust. According to police allegations, a group of criminals were luring job seekers with promises of employment in docks, ships, and offices by fabricating a profile of the Kolkata Port Trust.

They used to gather information about job seekers, steal their money, and deceive them. The criminals have also been known to mail victims forged Kolkata Port Trust official documents.
The situation came to light when a job applicant reported the group to the Kolkata police’s Cyber police station.

Sections 66/66C/66D of the IT Act of 2000 and sections 120B/420/465/467/468/469/471/506 of the Indian Penal Code were used to register the case (IPC).

On Tuesday, while conducting the inquiry, the police detained a man named Gobinda Barai at his home. The police also seized a laptop and a cell phone from his possession that were being used to defraud innocent people.

To find and detain the other parties involved in this case, more investigation is being conducted.
