Nilkant Halarnkar, the minister of fisheries in Goa, stated on Monday that if the younger generation shows interest in the industry, fishing will become a key part of the economy of the coastal state.
On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, Halarnkar told reporters in Panaji that fishing can significantly boost the state’s economy, much like mining does.
“If the younger generation shows interest in it, the fishing business may become a big contributor to the state’s economy. The overuse of fish resources may become an issue in the future. To improve our harvest, we should adopt the newest technologies “said he.
