Three fishing trawlers from Karnataka seized in Goa

Three fishing trawlers from Karnataka were impounded by Goan officials on Monday for entering Goan waters.

According to Nilkanth Halarnkar, the Minister of Fisheries, action was taken against these fishing trawlers since they didn’t follow the guidelines.

“They waded into the waves off Goa. As a result, they were taken into custody, and the fish catch was auctioned off that night, he claimed.

According to Halarnkar, further legal action would be taken. After the entire legal process is finished, the fishing trawlers will be released, he said.

The Goan fishing community has frequently complained that trawlers from neighbouring states have been taking fish in their waters.
