Vizhinjam Protest: Fishermen ignite a boat, toss police barricades into the water.

On 27 October in Thiruvananthapuram, as the protest approached its 100th day, local fishermen who are opposed to the construction of the Vizhinjam international harbour nearby stepped up their protest on Thursday by torching a fishing boat and hurling police barricades into the water.

Numerous fisherpeople, including women, arrived at the area by land and sea and pried through the gate’s lock to the project site while yelling slogans.

Along with residents of the adjacent coastal communities, the Latin Archdiocese organised a huge boatload of protesters who were fisherman from Muthalapozhi and other nearby locations.
