According to him, India is the third-largest producer of fish in the world. According to the Union Minister, Karnataka received 734.77 crore rupees under the PMMSY’s flagship programme, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), from 2020–21 to the present, for the development of infrastructure amenities.

The vision of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is to bring “Blue Revolution” through responsible and sustainable growth of the fisheries sector.
In the fisheries industry, PMMSY’s key motto is “Reform, Perform, and Transform.”
The implementing agency is the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy.
The Central Sector Scheme and the Centrally Sponsored Scheme are the two distinct parts of the umbrella programme known as the PMMSY.
A further division of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Component is made into beneficiary- and non-beneficiary-oriented sub-components/activities.

The Indian government’s initiatives to enhance fishing includes,
Fishing and aquaculture infrastructure development fund (FIDF) creation in 2018–19
By 2024–2025, the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana programme hopes to produce 22 million tonnes of fish. 55 lakh people are anticipated to benefit from the work prospects as well.
Focus on Blue Revolution: Emphasizes the creation of an environment that is supportive of the integrated and comprehensive management of fisheries for the socioeconomic advancement of fishermen and fish farmers.
Providing fishers and fish growers with Kisan Credit Card (KCC) capabilities would assist them in obtaining the working money they require.
