The Pakistan Navy reported on Thursday that it had saved six Indian fishermen who were in danger of drowning not far from the international maritime border between Pakistan and India.
The occurrence took place on October 6, 2022. According to a press release from the authorities, an emergency rescue mission was carried out and all of the crew members of the Indian fishing boat were safely recovered while the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) ship was patrolling the Eastern maritime zone.
Later, the Nakwa claimed that an accident caused their boat to sink after straying into Pakistani waters.
The PMSA Ship fed the rescued fishermen and provided them with medical attention, which helped to stabilise their physical states. The fishermen were subsequently moved to a neighbouring coast guard patrolling vessel in India.
Both the fishermen who were saved and the Indian Coast Guard praised the PMSA ship for her humanitarian efforts.
“PMSA has always been at the forefront in saving lives at sea without any distinctions; the Rescue of Indian fishermen is a manifestation of this resolve,” the statement reads.
Nine Indian crew members were saved from drowning earlier this month by the Pakistan Navy when their ship crashed in the Arabian Sea.
According to a statement from the Pakistan Navy’s Director General of Public Relations, the event happened on August 9 close to the coastal town of Gwadar in the Balochistan province when the Indian sailing vessel “Jamna Sagar” sank with 10 crew members onboard.
The navy had received information about the vessel, replied to the distress call, and the Pakistan Maritime Information Centre asked that a neighbouring merchant ship, “MT KRUIBEKE,” aid the stranded crew of the Indian vessel.
