One abandoned Pakistani fishing boat was taken by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday from the ‘Harami Nala’ creek area near Bhuj in Gujarat’s Kutch region, which is part of the maritime border between Pakistan and India.
Around six in the morning, BSF officers monitoring the region discovered the boat leaving from “Harami Nala,” according to a BSF official. The BSF personnel took some fishing nets, jerry cans, and ice cases. The men in the boat, however, were able to escape and head towards Pakistan.
“We seized a Pakistani fishing boat from ‘Harami Nala’ in Kutch of Gujarat around 6 am. A few people were seen on the boat, but they jumped into the water and swam towards the Pakistan side. An icebox, jerry can, and fishing net have been seized by the BSF personnel from the abandoned boat,” the BSF official said.
After noticing BSF patrol units, Pakistani fishermen frequently retreat to their side, leaving their boats.
However, Pakistani fisherman enter the Indian side of the stream to capture fish despite the authorities’ ban on Indian fishermen doing so.
The Sir Creek region is often referred to as “Harami Nala.” The region, a 22 kilometre long and around 8 km wide marshy tract, is usually passable.
The BSF had taken three Pakistani boats from “Harami Nala” earlier in June of this year.
The BSF also detained over nine Pakistani fishermen in May and confiscated a comparable number of Pakistani fishing vessels during various operations.
