According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the award for the nation’s first multimodal logistics park (MMLP) under the Bharatmala Pariyojana in Chennai is likely to be made this week.
One of those cited above claims that the Chennai MMLP winner will be announced in a few days after the evaluation of bids, which closed on August 10th, is almost complete.
After the project is awarded, it is anticipated to draw in an investment of roughly Rs. 782.58 crores.
The winning bidder will oversee the 45-year operation, maintenance, and management of the MMLP in Chennai. Three bids were received for the Chennai MMLP by National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLM), a 100% owned SPV of the National Highways Authority of India.
The opening of bidding for two additional facilities of this type in Nagpur and Bengaluru will be made possible by the completion of the award for Chennai MMLP. The Nagpur MMLP will cost about 599.39 crores, while the Bengaluru MMLP will cost around 935.90 crores.
Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, NHLML is building 35 logistic parks in total, attracting 70,000 crores in investment. Studies on feasibility are currently being conducted in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.
By reducing overall freight costs and time, optimizing warehousing costs, lowering vehicular pollution and congestion, and enhancing tracking and traceability of consignments, MMLPs are anticipated to improve the nation’s logistics.
The Chennai MMLP is strategically situated in Mappedu, the center of Sriperumbudur’s auto cluster. The project hired CBRE and Howe Engineering as consultants.
