The Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and marine enforcement squad’s persistent efforts to find three missing fishermen who vanished when the boat carrying 23 fishermen collapsed off the Perumathura coast were unsuccessful.
Two cranes were brought to Perumathura to fish out the dead after shifting the accropodes since there were rumours that the missing fishermen might have been trapped in a fishing net beneath the breakwater at Muthalapozhi.
However, because of its enormity, they were unable to transport those cranes from the beach to the location. Due to severe weather and high water, the search activities at sea were frequently stopped.
The search operations, which were launched, failed to locate the missing fisherman because of choppy seas, according to Anchuthengu coastal police. They claimed that because of the strong undercurrents, the fisherman might have been carried away from this location.
Due to poor lighting, the search efforts were suspended on Wednesday at 6 o’clock. At Muthalapozhi Harbour in Perumathura on Monday, two fishermen perished when their boat capsized in choppy waves, and three more went missing. Around 1.50 pm, the accident happened close to the groyne, close to the harbour.
The deceased are Varkala natives Shanavas, 55, and Nizamudeen, 65. A Varkala native owns the boat, “Safa Marfa.”
The precise number of fishermen aboard the boat was first unclear. 23 people were on the boat, according to the Anchuthengu coastal police at night. It was possible to save 18 people. The coastal police boat saved seven people, while the remaining were saved by fishermen. The boat was returning to shore when the mishap happened at the harbour mouth. The boat had significant damage.
