Following a notification from the Hong Kong Department of Health, the Royal Caribbean International cancelled the Spectrum of the Seas from Hong Kong. In a notification addressed by the health department, nine close-contacts have confirmed to be infected by Covid-19. These individuals were travelling onboard Spectrum of the Seas’ current sailing which was departed on January 2 and was to reach on January 6.
After receiving notification, the guests were immediately quarantined and PCR tested. However, they all were tested negative. The ship is now returning to Hong Kong, and all guests and crew will be tested for COVID-19 on January 5. The next round of testing will be done on January 7.
Amid the ongoing pandemic crisis, the Royal Caribbean has been working closely with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. They unanimously continue to comply with the local pandemic prevention policies and regulations, with its own protocols. The Spectrum of the Seas has been sailing short cruises from Hong Kong featuring all sea days since September 2021.
