Sri Lankan Navy arrests three T.N. fishermen from Pudukottai district

On Wednesday night, the Sri Lankan Navy detained three fishermen from the Pudukottai area on suspicion of poaching in the territorial waters of the island nation.

The three fishermen who were detained were identified as N. Arul (36), K. Ayyappan (30), and S. Sundaram (26), all of whom were from the coastal village of Kottaipattinam in the Pudukottai district.

According to officials with the Coastal Security Group, on Wednesday morning the three fishermen left the Kottaipattinam fishing harbour on a mechanised boat with the registration number IND TN08 MM 288.

The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended them while they were nighttime fishing close to the Neduntheevu. According to the reports, the trio was brought to the Kankensanthurai Naval facility along with their boat and fishing equipment for further investigation.
