Norway to provide Kerala new fishing technology, collaborate in calamity mitigation, says Rajeev.

On Wednesday, P Rajeev, the minister of industries for Kerala, posted on Facebook to discuss potential opportunities for Kerala as a result of the delegation led by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit to a foreign country.

According to the minister, Norway has offered to share new technology for fishing.

  • Tunnel-based culturing of fish in sea using innovative technology
  • AI-based deep-water fishing.

After consideration, a working strategy for the same was prepared. Experts from Norway would lead a workshop in Kerala as a starting step, he said.

In his article, the Minister disclosed that Norway-based businesses indicated their interest in making investments in industries such waste processing, fisheries, shipping, and the production of hydrogen fuel.

According to Rajeev, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) has expressed interest in assisting the government with issues such as flood mapping. After the delegates visit the state, NGI will also decide whether to partner with universities and research institutions.
